1. Introduction to Face Cams
A Face Cam (also known as an Axial Cam) is a specialized motion-control
component where the working profile is located on the lateral face of the part.
Its primary function is to convert rotary motion into precise axial
displacement or reciprocating movement along the shaft. By utilizing the
Powder metallurgy (PM) process, we can achieve complex surface contours and
ramps in a single pressing operation. This "near-net-shape"
capability eliminates the need for expensive multi-axis CNC machining while
ensuring exceptional repeatability in motion control.
